Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have one of the following educational qualifications:
- 10+2 (with Physics and Maths) plus any of the following:
- 3-year Diploma in Engineering (any stream)
- Combination of various streams of Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Instrumentation fields
- B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics
- B.E./B.Tech. in any discipline
Age Limit:
18-30 years as on 01.01.2025
Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms:
- OBC: 3 years
- SC/ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Ex-servicemen: Up to the extent of service rendered in defence plus 3 years
Vacancies
The RRB is expected to release approximately 9900 vacancies for Assistant Loco Pilot positions across various zones of Indian Railways. The exact zone-wise and category-wise vacancies will be announced in the official notification.

Salary Structure for Assistant Loco Pilot
Assistant Loco Pilots are recruited in Level 2 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with the following pay structure:
- Pay Scale: ₹19,900 – ₹63,200
- Grade Pay: ₹1,900
- Basic Pay: ₹19,900 (starting)
- Allowances: Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, and other allowances as applicable
