AFSB Testing Process

Candidates who have cleared the AFCAT written examination will now undergo the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing process, which consists of the following stages:

  1. Stage I – Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT):
    • Candidates undergo screening tests including verbal and non-verbal tests
    • PPDT involves writing a story based on a picture shown for 30 seconds
    • Group discussion on individual stories
  2. Stage II (For candidates clearing Stage I):
    • Psychological Tests: Various psychological tests to assess the candidate’s personality traits
    • Group Tests: Group discussions, group planning exercises, and progressive group tasks
    • Interview: Personal interview by an AFSB interviewing officer
    • Conference: Final assessment by a board of officers
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the AFSB will undergo a thorough medical examination

FAQ About AFCAT 2/2025 Result

Q1. What is the minimum qualifying marks in AFCAT 2/2025?

A1. The minimum qualifying marks vary for different branches. For the Flying Branch, the cutoff is 173 out of 300 marks, while for Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches, the cutoffs are 162 and 156 respectively. However, the final selection is based on the All India Merit List prepared after the AFSB interviews.

Q2. I’ve been shortlisted for the AFSB. What documents should I carry?

A2. Candidates should carry the following documents for the AFSB:

  • AFCAT Call Letter for AFSB
  • Original and photocopy of 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Original and photocopy of graduation/post-graduation mark sheets and certificates
  • Valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card/PAN Card/Driving License/Voter ID)
  • 8-10 recent passport-sized photographs
  • NCC certificates (if applicable)

Q3. How many days does the AFSB testing take?

A3. The AFSB testing is conducted over 5 days. Stage I screening takes place on Day 1. If a candidate clears Stage I, they proceed to Stage II which is conducted over the next 4 days (Day 2 to Day 5).

Q4. Is there any provision for re-checking of AFCAT results?

A4. No, there is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation of AFCAT results. The results declared by IAF are final and binding.

Q5. If I don’t clear the AFSB this time, can I appear for AFCAT again?

A5. Yes, candidates who don’t clear the AFSB can appear for AFCAT again, provided they meet the age criteria and other eligibility conditions. However, there is a limit on the number of attempts for the Flying Branch (3 attempts), while there is no such restriction for Ground Duty branches.
